Visible Carbon Fiber vs. Carbon Flash Metallic

2025-Chevrolet-Corvette-ZR1-0L7A8107

What’s the Difference?

Visible Carbon Fiber and Carbon Flash Metallic are two popular finish options for C8 Corvette carbon fiber parts. Both can create a premium, performance-inspired appearance, but they produce distinctly different results.

Understanding the difference will help you choose the finish that best complements your Corvette.

Visible Carbon Fiber

Visible Carbon Fiber showcases the natural carbon weave beneath a protective clear coat. It creates a more technical, high-performance appearance and allows the construction of the component to become part of the design.

Choose Visible Carbon Fiber if you want:

The carbon weave to remain visible

A more distinctive performance appearance

To coordinate with other visible carbon components

Carbon fiber to become a focal point of the build

Carbon Flash Metallic

Carbon Flash Metallic is a dark metallic paint finish used throughout many factory Corvette trim packages. It creates a cleaner and more understated appearance without a visible carbon weave.

AG Motorsports Carbon Flash Metallic components are still made from 100% prepreg dry carbon fiber. The completed carbon fiber component is painted to achieve the Carbon Flash Metallic finish.

Choose Carbon Flash Metallic if you want:

A smooth painted finish without visible weave

To coordinate with factory Carbon Flash trim

A more subtle, factory-inspired appearance

Different exterior components to share a consistent finish

The Same Prepreg Carbon Fiber Construction

When both finishes are offered on an AG Motorsports product, the underlying component is still produced using 100% prepreg dry carbon fiber. The primary difference is the final surface treatment.

Visible Carbon Fiber receives a clear finish that showcases the weave. Carbon Flash Metallic receives a painted finish that coordinates with the Corvette’s factory dark metallic accents.

Which Finish Is Right for Your Corvette?

Choose Visible Carbon Fiber when you want the material itself to stand out. Choose Carbon Flash Metallic when you want a cleaner, more uniform appearance that blends with existing factory trim.

Before ordering, consider the finish of your current splitter, side skirts, mirrors, spoiler, diffuser, and other exterior components. Keeping these pieces coordinated will create a more intentional final build.
